July 4th 2010 Southeast Trikers Meeting
Next meeting will be
announced later this month, date, time place.
Members present: Betty Jo, Jack, Mike, Sandra, Toby,
Kassidy, Al, Sandy
Minutes to last meeting not read. Treasurers Report given.
Thanks to all that sold Raffle tickets and/or came to the
Benefit. Shame on Bloomfield as a city for not coming out to help with the
event, as the money for the event was meant for our community charities. Shame
on the other Iowa Chapters for also not supporting us as a BTW chapter no matter
what kind of event.
There was a discussion about whether or not to have
a benefit next year. Nothing was decided for sure, will wait for more members to
be present but it doesn't sound promising. It's hard to out do ourselves,
we worked so hard for and pushed Freedom for Kids Benefit and gave those people the
reputation that we actually earned. (It will now always be hard to get
people to understand we are the same people just our own chapter.) Ideas of
what to do with what wasn't auctioned off to members was discussed and no
decision was made at that time. Waiting for more members at meeting.
Heartland Trikers wants Southeast Trikers to meet
them at Knoxville in the park on July 25th after riding up there. They nor us
know what we are doing when anyone gets there we will just have to play it by
ear.
There is also a 3rd annual memorial bike show and
100 mile fun run in Bonaparte on the 24th. For more info contact Al or
Mike. Everyone is free to attend.
After this year we will have a set amount for
charities and try to keep our chapter money growing to a certain amount and then
set it. The donation can for chapter money will still travel to every
meeting and we need to feed it but only if you can afford it, pay bills and buy groceries
first, Please.
Got a Thank You card from Kris and Luanne Luedke the
winner of the Grill and accessories. They were very pleased.
Mike with Chris Luedke (husband of Louann who won the grill)
Al will put public Thank you in Paper for all the businesses that donated
.Toby is to make sure play station works so Al
can contact hospital and get date and we all can give it to them .
Toby and Kassidy will do the presentation.
Southeast Trikers
Meeting Minutes, June 13, 2010
Next meeting will be
July 4, at Mike and Sandra's House after the 4th of July parade.
Minutes of the last meeting read and treasurers
report given.
Martha
K. "Grandma"
was voted into the chapter
as an honorary member. She is not a BTW member but she comes to events with Glen
and Becky and has a very good time! She also donates
to the events when possible.
Even tho we try to refuse her money she insists! We should always honor
and respect our seniors.
Strawberry
Fest was a success even tho it rained most of the weekend and was a muddy mess
at the campgrounds, those of us that were there had a good time visiting and
went across the river to the festival. We had plenty of food for the weekend and
no one went away hungry.
Kerry and Karen K. stopped by for
awhile Sunday after the meeting to visit. They are new BTW members and we would
like to have them join our chapter if they are so inclined.
We also had another visitor for the weekend and that was Jack and Betty Jo's
daughter Tammy from south Mo. Hope she had a good time with us. Mike, Sandra,
Toby and Kassidy made it to the meeting but worked over the weekend so couldn't
camp with us. Ernie came down fri evening with his daughter and her fiancé. He
brought Grandma flowers and a fake crown but she liked it and played along.
Allen and Renee didn't camp but came early each day to help serve breakfast and
stayed most of both days.
We have food left over
to cook for the benefit so will not have to spend alot there. We will need some
things but our food coordinator will know what we need and let us all know. the
menu is as follows, Loose hamburger, baked beans, potato salad, chips. and fruit
cocktail.
Hopefully Jim has the fun run route set up. Will be picking up the donations
that are left in the next week or so. We need a good turn out to make all this
work so everyone please come if at all possible.
Sandra R says there is a parade here on the
fourth so she will check into it and e-mail us all the info or send to me
and I will e-mail it to everyone.
We would also like to ride in the old settlers parade the
end of July and pancake day parade in Centerville . Also there is a Car ,bike
and trike show at Apple Daze in Donnellson Oct. 19 that some of us have attended
the past couple of years. We need a big showing for all of these if possible.
People, ya all need to keep checking the EVENTS section of the website so ya
know what's going on, when, and where.
We will be figuring out some camping weekends and some rides for the rest of the
summer so try to keep informed.
May Meeting Info
-The Southeast trikers had their
meeting at the McGowen Rec. Area. Was sunny and warm at the beginning but ended
up cloudy and raining by the time it was over. We had 3 trikes there and they
all 3 got very wet as well as their riders!
-We had a visitor just
before the meeting promoting trikes and vehicle driving across America that are
getting 30 to 50 mpg. They will be in Knoxville June 14. He was also promoting Knoxville
bike night which is the first Friday of every month.
-Treasury report given.
-Betty Jo and Pat have all the food lined up for the
trike-in. We have put alot of responsibility on Pat and Betty Jo so if they need
any help with anything and they ask please try to help them. They shouldn't have
to do it all.
-We have all the events
scheduled for the trike-in and Jim has the route planned for the bug spot run.
-Betty from the campground asked if we could do
breakfast for the mornings of June 12 and 13 at the campgrounds during
Strawberry Festival. It was voted on and passed. Al n Sandy will work
with Betty and Betty Jo to get this done. The money will just be added to our
charities.
-Renee and Allen brought 2 very
nice dresses that they are donating to the auction for the benefit June 26.
-Perry Ia having a parade on July 3
if interested call Mike Pitman. It is west of Des Moines.
-We will be having a 50/50 raffle
at the trike-in and raffling off a $50 dollar gas card courtesy of Jim and Pat Carlisle.
-Keep selling those raffle tickets for the grill
to be given away at the benefit also.
-We all need to get
pumped up about this summer and our events as it is the first yr for us as a
chapter. We will all do well if we work together.
The past is gone and we all need to look to the future and make this a very good summer for us and for our chapter.
"Dreaming of warmer
triking days to come!"
Southeast Trikers Meeting
April 4, 2010
Members present; Ernie n Kathy, Al n Sandy, Jack n Betty Jo, Allen n Renee, Becky, Mike n Sandra and Toby (Tobina Sweetie) and Kassidy.
Minutes to last meeting read and treasure report
given.
We missed Glen but he was still in the Hospital.
We all hope he gets better soon. Damn it Glen, it is riding and camping season.
Hope you can join us soon.
We discussed having the Free
Christmas Dinner again and we all decided we would but will try to find a new
place but we need handicap accessible. Would we want to have toys for kids that
do come to the dinner with their parents. Maybe?? tabled till after the benefit. Mike
mentioned a 50/50 drawing instead of the donation can at the meetings. This was
discussed and we all decided to keep the can till Sept. and then rethink what to
do for chapter money at the meetings. Discussion about donating a Nintendo or play station
to the hospital (Davis Co. Hospital), as they don't have anything except a DVD
player and a TV with just a few movies. Toby suggested that he and Kassidy
had one they didn't play and would be willing to donate it. Way to go
kids!!!!!!!!!!! thinking of others while you are young means you are growing up.
Al will make sure they will take a used one. Also Allen and Renee have one they
put up and do not use. we will check with other area hospitals too see if they
would like the other one. We also need to get some movies for kids together for
them. Kassidy stated she would donate some Barbie Movies.
Amendments were talked about at the last meeting ,some were rewritten
during the month and sent out to all members, The basic 30 days that was called
for in the bylaws were followed. The amendments were discussed in length at this
meeting and voted on. All amendments passed except 1( Voting in new members DID
NOT PASS THE MAJORITY VOTE.) A complete set of chapter bylaws will be
available to all as soon as typed and not just written. Also if we can get
Sandra R. to put a new tab on the website they will be put there also.

Our chapter will be donating to this benefit for the

on the website and designing the flyers for the events. Mark is copying
them for us again. A BIG THANK YOU TO HIM.
Food for the "Trikin for the Needy"
Benefit June 26 was discussed and an idea of a menu was decided upon.
Same for the Trike-In in May.
An amendment to the Chapter
Bylaws was discussed. There will be no Roberts Rules of order due to all the
technical BS. We now have SOUTHEAST'S Rules of Order. While we are still a
small chapter, we will now bring up a subject, Discuss it till everyone is
satisfied one way or the other, Vote by a show of hands, Majority Rules. All
Major Subjects will be announced ahead of time so that ,if need be ,the members
not at the meeting can either be called or can send a vote. This was a unanimous
vote of yes to this amendment. As we grow to big for this, an amendment to the
amendment can be added or can be voted out and Roberts Rules of Order can be
brought back into play.
The M16's usually put on bike
show, but can't. We are offering our help. They do their own charities and we
may be able to help each other in this area.
It was decided , that our MAIN

Allen & Renee, Al & Sandy
Guests; Jim & Pat, Mark
There is a new Food pantry in
Farmington. Betty, (the lady that runs the campground) is apart of it so that
another idea for next years donation
money.
We also talked about maybe including the M16's MC in some of our events but no
actual decision was made will bring back up at another
meeting.
It was asked about getting Moulton School involved again this year in our
Benefit and yes we will talk to them and see if they are
interested.
Jim and Pat got French's Hamburger Inn for our Meet the Trikers Soup Supper in Feb.
We have the Get Together Room for Christmas dinner! We need to check it
out and make sure we have plenty of electrical outlets for all the roasters and
crock pots. We will be starting decorations and bringing in food at 9 am.
We have all decided the menu for the dinner and who is cooking what. It is all
good. The ladies will go do all the shopping and are supposed to know what they
are doing ??
We can count on them I know, as we have one great group of people.
We got in contact with the "I care", Angel Tree people and the chapter
approved a $100 dollar donation to them. Also they will be putting flyers in the
food boxes about our Christmas Dinner. Flyers are up all over the community! We
will be in the Hawkeye Trader, Tri County Shopper, Bloomfield Democrat, on KTVO
Community Calendar, KMEM's website, as well as on the General Store on the
radio. (we might be on the cable news in Bloomfield but only if the price is
right.) We have lots of advertisement out there anyway for the dinner.( NOTE;
Sandy and Betty Jo delivered the $100 donation and the flyers to" I
care", "angel tree" on Monday ).
Charter Member
Patches are done! We can pick them up any time. Remember only
members for the first yr will get charter member patches.
Renee has some friends that are interested in our chapter and will be coming to
check us out at our holiday party Jan 1, 2010.
Remember there will be a short meeting on Jan 1, 2010 at our holiday party. The
donation can will be there as usual. This is a potluck dinner for us and our
guests and will be at Mike and Sandra Ritz's.
Renee has designed a chapter
flag. It looks great and it seems it will become a chapter flag as several
people like the design and say they will want one also. She is checking around
for prices to have them made and will let us know the cost soon. Sandra
has designed us a chapter calendar that is also quite nice and there is alot of
interest in this also. She will be checking on cost for this also and will be
letting us know soon about that. Several of us are also interested in
having them and maybe even selling some to make the chapter some money.
Mark printed and donated all the flyers for us for our Christmas
Dinner! A very big THANK-YOU to him as he is a friend to us all, and
as he is not a member of our chapter (yet) he keeps up on our events and
still helps us if he thinks it is a worthy cause. Thanks again.
Also let not forget our other Friends that are also not in our chapter
(yet), Jim and Pat. They have been to almost every meeting and they are a great
asset to us. Pat has many idea that seem to work well for us and Jim also has
some good ideas and he is going to help pick routes for or fun run at the
benefit and he got us French's Hamburger Inn for our Soup supper. Also a big
THANK YOU to the both of them.
Lets all remember ,
No matter what, these people are FRIENDS, not just nonmembers of our
chapter. I always say (yet) as I always hope they will join our chapter
but it is not a big deal either way. They are willing to help and do things for
us as well as for others. Being in a chapter is COOL, but having caring friends
is even better. Chapter and personal rivalries is not what Southeast
Trikers is about and we all know that. We are friends and we all have friends in
other chapters. A lot of our members are with other chapters, Who cares? I don't
want us to become Family as families fight to much, Friends disagree and argue
much less. WE ARE A GREAT BUNCH OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE COME TOGETHER TO FORM
SOUTHEAST TRIKERS. We have a cause and since day 1 of this chapter we have been
working for it, so lets keep it up. Also I didn't write this because of any
complaints about any members or any friends our chapter has , I wrote this paragraph
so we never lose site of what a friend or a friendship is about and why we have
the chapter we have. Let's all have FUN,FUN,FUN, at everything we do
whether it is donating to others, doing benefits, trike-ins, camping
together, riding or building trikes, whatever we do as a chapter we need to have
fun and not find faults in others, WE ALL MAKE MISTAKES, WE ALL HAVE FAULTS.
AL's MOTTO:
Treat all
people like you want to be treated!!!! Hopefully they will treat you the
same!!!!!!
Members present: Al-n-Sandy

K., Allen-n Renee B. with Jazmyne
Guests; Jim -n- Pat C.
.
New Business: A
date was chosen for our Trike-In, May 21 thru May 23, 2010. It will be at the
Indian Lake Campground in Farmington, Ia. Camping is $10 per night with
electric. Full hookup is $15. If you don't get full hookup showers will cost you
a dollar. The shelter house is available for $30 a day but the managers
said they will work with us.
We are trying to come up with ways to make money for the chapter to be
able to do our projects. A Meet the Trikers Soup Supper was discussed and a tentative
date of Feb.20.2010 was decided on. We will be hunting for a place to hold it.
Guests Jim and Pat C. have ideas on that and will be checking on them and report
something to us at the next meeting. Other ideas for money making are
calendars, bake sales, craft sale, and biscuit and gravy breakfast at fall
festival.
We discussed the signs we have and will repaint them to fit our events.
Patches have been ordered.
A donation can will be at all meetings until we have a good amount in our
treasury. Only give if you can or want.
The Benefit date is still set for June26, 2010.
Jan 1,2010 we will be having a potluck at Mike -n- Sandra's. It will be at Noon.

Minutes of last meeting were read and treasurer report given. A design was
chosen for our chapter patch from the 11 that were brought by the members.
We will check on set-up price and cost per patch. Sandra R. is working on
getting our website up. We all hope it will be soon. Our benefit, Triking for
the Need, will be on the same day and month as the Freedom for Kids Benefit was
on. This was voted on and was a unanimous decision. It will be the first
annual event as we are starting over. The event will basically be a one day
event but camping should be available as we are going to try to get the McGowen
Site and will try to reserve the shelter house. The date of the event will be
June 26,2010. We are planning a long fun run with a public auction after the
ride. We will try to get an auctioneer again this year. We now have a non-profit
number also. We need to get more info on local charities. Also a, Meet The
Trikers Soup Supper, is in the works but no date has been decided on yet. We
also will have to work on a trike-in date soon.
Donnie and Virginia L. have joined our chapter and Allen and Renee said they
will be joining as soon as they pay their BTW dues. 4 new members and 2 of
them will be new members for BTW. YAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!
We asked our guest, Jim, if he would make up a couple of routes for
us for our fun run for the benefit and he agreed to do so. Jim also volunteered
to talk to Bill Basset to see if we could join the bluegrass people to maybe do
a silent auction, in the spring, to make the chapter some money to work on
our projects for charities or just for our charities.
In other news during the month of Sept Al, Sandy, Mike ,Toby,&
Kassidy, rode to the Apple daze festival in Donnellson to join Ron Blint in the
car and trike show. We all had a good time and Mike and Ron both took trophies
home.
Also during the month Jack & Betty Jo, Mike, Sandra, Toby, &
Kassidy, Glen & Becky, Al & Sandy, all participated in the Pancake
Day Parade. It is one of the biggest parades in the midwest. Glen and Becky and
Toby & Kassidy rode on a trailer that Al pulled and Mike fixed up for them
,complete with chairs and carpet. We thought it was a great way to
get into a new area and get Southeast Trikers and BTW names out into a new area.
Hi all
This is just to let you all know that we will no longer be sending out a news letter unless
requested) because our Website is up and running. The news letter will be
available for all to read there. Also the events and there dates. We have
been respectful and sent our news letter to all the chapters and
to the state co-directors.
To the chapter directors and the state co- directors, please give this
website to your members so they can stay informed and will know when our events
are, should they decide to join us at some up coming event. If you chapter
directors send us your info for events we will be glad to post it in our EVENTS
page, this will also keep us from stepping on toes . We do not wish to put our
events on dates that will conflict with your events. Please at least extend
Southeast Trikers enough courtesy to know when your events will be. If we don't
get the dates of the events we will not be held responsible for any
conflicting dates.
